Legal fact
Regulation (EU) 2023/988 applies from 13 December 2024. Article 19 addresses information shown in offers when products are made available online or through other distance sales.
Article 19 identifies manufacturer contact information; where the manufacturer is not established in the Union, responsible-person information; product identification including a picture; and applicable warning or safety information among the information to show clearly and visibly.
The operator role, product scope, applicable sector rules, responsible-person position and language requirements must be checked for the actual catalogue and markets.
Technical interpretation
Treat every required item as governed catalogue data with a source, owner, validation state and locale—not as free text added to one template.
Verify product and variation records, storefront output, search or quick-view surfaces, feeds and marketplace exports. A stored value is not evidence that every customer-facing offer renders it.
Define missing-data, invalid-address, translation and inherited-value behaviour before automating publication.
CMS implications
Map approved information to products, combinations, languages, theme templates, structured exports and any marketplace connector that publishes the offer.
Map approved information to products and variations, block or classic templates, locales, feeds and connected sales channels.
