Article 11a / implementation guide
What Directive (EU) 2023/2673 changed, which contracts may be affected, what the online function must do, and how merchants can translate the requirement into PrestaShop or WooCommerce software decisions.

Article 11a, inserted into the Consumer Rights Directive by Directive (EU) 2023/2673, requires an online withdrawal function for covered consumer distance contracts concluded through an online interface where a withdrawal right exists. The function is additional to existing withdrawal methods.
It must support a withdrawal statement, a distinct confirmation action and an acknowledgement on a durable medium. National implementation, contract scope and exceptions must be checked.

What changed and who may be affected
The rule is not a standalone requirement for every online sale. The baseline test is a trader-to-consumer distance contract, concluded through an online interface, for which a right of withdrawal exists. Article 3 scope and Article 16 exceptions still matter; covered financial-services contracts have additional rules and sector interactions.
The online function does not replace withdrawal by other available methods. Merchants should first map markets, contract types, consumer status, withdrawal rights and exceptions, then define the software workflow for the covered set.
Spanish search vocabulary includes función de desistimiento online and botón de desistimiento; those phrases do not change the scope analysis.
Legal text and technical inference
For covered contracts, provide an online withdrawal function in addition to existing methods. It must be legible, unambiguous, prominent, easily accessible and continuously available during the applicable withdrawal period.
Let the consumer provide or confirm their name, details identifying the contract and details of the electronic means through which acknowledgement will be received. The statement must communicate the decision to withdraw.
After the statement is completed, submission uses a separate confirmation function labelled ‘confirm withdrawal’ or an equally unambiguous equivalent. This does not mandate two pages or a particular screen layout.
Send an acknowledgement on a durable medium without undue delay, containing the submitted statement and its date and time. Whether a particular email, PDF or account message qualifies is context-specific.
Timestamps, delivery outcomes, audit history, internal ownership and case states are prudent operational controls. Article 11a does not prescribe a database design or a number of Back Office states.
Recital 37 says a trader can offer partial withdrawal when several goods or services were ordered. Item and quantity selection is not a universal Article 11a field.
Statement data
Any extra field needs an operational or legal purpose, a privacy and retention decision, and a check that it does not make exercising the right materially harder. Article 11a itself is not a GDPR field specification.
Merchant workflow
The consumer reaches the prominent function during the applicable period; other withdrawal methods remain available.
The consumer provides or confirms the three information categories and communicates the decision to withdraw.
A distinct, unambiguous confirmation action submits the completed statement.
Submission before the applicable period expires counts as timely use of the function.
The trader sends the submitted content and timestamp on an assessed durable medium without undue delay.
Eligibility review, return instructions, inventory, disputes and payment refund execution follow outside the Article 11a submission sequence.

PrestaShop
Review guest and registered identification, contract reference, statement, confirmation, acknowledgement delivery, records, localization, availability and failure handling. Partial quantities, Packs, stock and refund steps require explicit product and contract decisions.
WooCommerce
Map account/order access, guest identification, the three information categories, confirmation, acknowledgement, case ownership and the external refund boundary. PsDevs currently has no packaged WooCommerce withdrawal product.
PrestaShop product bridge
For supported PrestaShop environments, EU Withdrawal Manager implements and operates a tested online withdrawal workflow. Its product evidence covers statement, confirmation and acknowledgement behaviour plus guest, registered, total and partial scenarios.
Partial withdrawal is a product capability, not a universal legal requirement. The module does not decide contract-specific applicability, provide legal review, guarantee compliance or execute the payment-provider refund.
